Instructions

We are about  to set on another enterprise with the Prince of Wales. The men and women of Cheshire are eager to bring riches from France one more time. Sir Griffyn, knighted after his exploits at Crecy, is the de factor leader of the Cheshire archers. Your deputies will oversee the procurement of material and the distribution of funds to the arrayers and purveyors. Everything seems to be looking fine, except for the endemic shortage of suitable horses and textile so far inland. Shall we proceed or re there special instructions that we should consider before mobilization?

  1. From Sir John:
    1) My Quartermaster is to make the acquisition of the steel arrows priority #1. Scour the countryside, appropriate from other units in the area, whatever.
    2) Send a messenger to the Black Prince that we will be ready to leave in four weeks time. All preparations are to be made with this date in mind. To my men, I say three weeks, in order to build in a buffer.
    3) Daily practice with those training arrows. No more slacking off, you laggards!

  2. 1 ) Sure. This will make it more likely that the purveyors will acquire arrows, and less likely that horses will be acquired instead.

2 ) Will be done, no problems.

3 ) This will be considered when determining the troop training level prior to leaving Cheshire.

  4. We'll continue once we hit port. This should assist the Prince in achieving his goal of maintaining discipline prior to leaving.

  5. No bows or steel arrows?

We'll have to use up our buffer time. Whip the quartermaster for sleeping on the job, promote his underling, and spend an extra week to roust up the needed supplies, with an emphasis on these two.

  6. Don't worry about the rolls' outcome. These are note to myself to prepare the next real post. I'll create a new post with an update for you. These are only outlooks after 2 weeks. Not the final outcome. A failure in the end means a shortage, not an outright absence. You should expect to be short of a few things in the end.
